Justice League Snyder Cut: Everything you need to know about it

#ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement on social media finally won when during Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel watch party Henry Cavill said: “I reckon you should show it” and Zack Snyder shared the poster of the Justice League Snyder Cut.

The Justice League movie was released in 2017 and failed miserably at the box office and losing Warner Bros. Pictures an estimated $60 million.
The planned movie was around 4 hours long, but Warner Bros. wanted it to be about 2 hours. Zack Snyder had to step down from the project to deal with his daughter’s death, and the movie then completed by The Avengers director Joss Whedon. Fans were quite unhappy with the film and started a campaign on social media with the hashtag #ReleaseTheSnyderCut.

When Zack Snyder left the project, a significant portion of the movie had already shot. Joss Whedon made changes to the storyline and did extensive reshoots. Fans wanted the studio to release Zack Snyder’s version of the film. To draw attention towards this, the people behind the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign held a variety of fundraising events for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The campaign got its digital billboard moment in Times Square. Gal Gadot and Ben Affleck also tweeted their support to the hashtag on the second anniversary of the film.
It is now official. The Justice League Snyder Cut will finally get a debut on HBO Max, the WarnerMedia digital streaming service, in 2021. Since the film was not complete, it requires a lot of post-production work which might cost USD 20-30 million.

This is what Zack Snyder said about the release (via Hollywood Reporter):
“It will be an entirely new thing, and, especially talking to those who have seen the released movie, a new experience apart from that movie. You probably saw one-fourth of what I did.”
Zack Snyder’s wife Deborah added, “With the new platform and streaming services, you can have something like this. You can’t release something like this theatrically, but you could with a streaming service. It’s an opportunity that wasn’t there two years ago, to be honest.”

What can we expect from Justice League Snyder Cut?

The movie will explore the backstories of Cyborg, Aquaman and Flash as these characters did not have their solo films before Justice League. We might see Lex Luthor, who only appeared in the post-credit scene, in a much bigger role in Justice League Snyder Cut.
The Knightmare sequence in Batman vs Superman will make more sense as its story points ties into the Snyder’s cut.
DCU is known for its darker tone, and we can expect the same from Justice League Snyder Cut. Superman’s resurrection, which seems a bit off in 2017’s Justice League will make more sense. We might also get to see the Black Superman suite.
Justice League Snyder Cut will still feature Steppenwolf as the main evil character, but it is also supposed to set up the storyline for the iconic DC villain Darkseid.

It is still unclear whether it will be released as a 4-hour movie or split into several episodes.
Will it change the future of the DC Universe? Does this mean that Hanry Cavill will return with another solo Superman movie? We don’t know yet. But no matter what form it will take, it will surely make the fans happy who went to extreme extents to make this possible.
