Christian Bale to play the villain in Thor: Love and Thunder

It has been a long time since we saw Christian Bale in a superhero action movie. Bale has played the role of Batman in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy. His Batman portrayal was universally acclaimed.

As now Robert Pattinson is taking on the iconic superhero in Matt Reeves’s ‘The Batman’, Christian Bale is moving to Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Tessa Thompson, who played Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok (2017) confirmed in a conversation with Entertainment Tonight that Christian Bale would play the villain in Thor 4 aka Thor: Love and Thunder.

At the season 3 premiere of Westworld, she said:

“I’ve read the script. I can’t tell you much. Lots of exciting text messages exchanged between Natalie and I. We’re going to have fun. Taika is writing and directing. Some familiar faces. Some new people coming into the mix. Christian Bale is going to play our villain, which is going to be fantastic.”

Tessa Thompson Reacts to Christian Bale Playing the Villain in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’

We don’t know yet which villain he will be playing. What we do know is that Tessa is the King of Asgard as seen at the end of the Avengers: Endgame, and she will maintain that title in Thor: Love and Thunder.

With Thor: Love and Thunder, Thor is going to be the only MCU superhero with a fourth solo movie. Natalie Portman will also be returning as Jane Foster. The character did not appear in any of the MCU movies after Thor: The Dark World.

Last year Natalie Portman told ET

“They came to me. Obviously, I wasn’t written into the third¬†Thor¬†because of where it took place. It wasn’t really on Earth and my character was on Earth. And then they came to me with the fourth idea and said, you know, ‘We have this idea, that was a storyline in some of the comics, where Jane becomes Lady Thor.’ And I was like, this is very exciting. And also of course with Taika, and I love Tessa [Thompson] and Chris [Hemsworth] so much. So it’s exciting to get to work with them again. And yeah, I’m very excited to wield the hammer.”

We are also very eager to see Lady Thor and King Valkyrie in the movie and the confirmation of Christian Bale as the Villain has increased our excitement.
