Coway Sleek Pro AP-1009 Air Purifier

Topper of the list is Coway AP-1009 Air Purifier. Coway is a Korean company and its air purifiers are considered among the best ones in the world. It is an ideal air purifier for small to medium size rooms. 

Design

The sleek Coway AP-1009 has a very cute design. Its weight is 5.9 Kgs. Slits at either side pull the polluted air from the room and the purified air is released into the room from the backside. The filters can be removed and replaced easily. Latest air purifiers these days come with touch buttons but Coway AP-1009 has conventional press-buttons. This is not a deal-breaker though. 

CADR value

CADR is a Clean Air Delivery Rate. The Coway AP-1009 Air Purifier has a CADR value of 303 cubic meters per hour. It means this air purifier purifies 303 cubic meters volume of purified air every hour. 

Coverage Area

You can use Coway AP-1009 in a room of 355 sq. ft. area. Try to place it at a place where it does not block the slits and backside because that is where the flow of air takes place in and out of the Air purifier.

There is a big cavity at the top left which acts as a pollution level LED indicator.

Apart from Pollution Level Indicator, filter change indicator and LED indicators are also present. 

Filters

Pre-Filter: Pre-filter blocks larger particles of pollutants present in the air. Pre-filters can be removed and washed easily. These should be cleaned frequently for better life and performance of the air purifier.

Urethane Carbon Filter: Activated carbon filter removes gaseous impurities and eliminates odour. 

HEPA Filter: High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter removes pollutants of small sizes of up to 2.5 microns. Coway HEPA filter is a high-quality HEPA filter with a green coating that destroys the viruses. 

Life of Carbon Filter and HEPA filter is approx. 8500 hours. After this period, filters will need replacement. 

Speed Control

There are 4 fan speeds available. 4th is the highest one with Turbo mode. In turbo mode, the air is purified very quickly. At Turbo mode the fan makes some noise but that is less than any other purifier available in the market. Coway AP1009 also has an auto mode. This lets air purifier to work with dust sensing technology and adjusts the airflow automatically.

Conclusion

Minimum noise, good looks, True HEPA filter and different speed options makesCoway AP1009 an excellent Air purifier for your home or office. The only downside is no digital display to give real-time AQI value of the air but that is not a deal-breaker as it has a very stylish LED indicator that indicates pollution level with different colours. 

Philips AC2887/20 High-Efficiency Air purifier

Philips AC2887/20 is highly effective to detect air quality change with its advanced AreaSense Technology. It can filter out over 99% of pollutants of size 2.5 micron in one hour. 

Design

The model is available in white colour. The console on top is blank and the cavity lights show the air quality. 

Coverage Area

Philips AC2887/20 is suitable for larger areas of up to 441 sq. ft. 

CADR

CADR is 333 cubic meters per hour 

If you compare It with Coway AP1009 both Coverage Area and CADR is more

Philips AC2887/20 operates on a very low noise level of 20.5 dB. 

Purification Settings

This air purifier has 3 automatic purification settings:

General mode, Extra-sensitive Allergen mode and Extra-powerful bacteria and virus mode. General mode improves the air quality and removes pollutants up to 99%. In Allergen mode the sensor detects the daily events that increase air pollution and automatically gives an extra boost to airflow to instantly reduce the risk level of allergens. Bacteria and Virus mode boosts the airflow and captures the bacteria and virus by 99.9%.

Indicators

Healthy air protect alert indicates when it’s time to replace the filters. 

Digital AQI indicator gives you the real-time value of the air quality index. 

AQI and other lights can be dimmed or turned off when required. 

Conclusion

Philips AC2887/20 air purifiers can perform well in large room areas. Area sense technology makes it a must buy and it also has a digital AQL indicator which was missing in Coway AP1009

Honeywell Air Touch i8 Air Purifier

Design

Design of Honeywell air purifiers are not very popular and Air Touch i8 is no different. Air Touch i8 comes in two colours white and champagne gold. Champagne gold doesn’t look that appealing and for that reason, it is available at a lesser price than the white one.

Air flows in from the bottom and the sides and purified air comes out from the top. 

Controls

The touch panel is provided at the top where you have a power button, sleep button and a fan speed button. By default, the air purifier works on auto mode but you can change the fan speed using the fan speed button. Sleep button lowers the fan speed and turns the lights off. 

Indicators

Lock, sleep mode and filter mode indicators are provided on the top panel. A digital display indicates the AQI reading and a coloured ring around it tells whether the air is clean or polluted.  

Coverage Area = 450 sq .ft

CADR = 300 cubic meters per hour

Performance

When the fan operates at full speed the purifier creates a loud noise but the purification of air is fast and efficient. Honeywell Air Touch i8 works best on auto mode and does the job just fine.

Conclusion

Honeywell Air Touch i8 may not stand out in its design but with good coverage area and CADR Honeywell does the job for which it is designed – reduces pollution level of your room to a small level.
